    Sequoia Family Crawler

Figuring out long travel and low ride height has been a steep learning curve so progress has been slow. I could not get shocks to clear the front end with the wide frame in the way and up-travel was severely limited with panhard placement so I came up with a solid plan and trimmed off the...

What should I be spending my money on to build my jeep

Long arm kit, 4in springs, good shocks, and enough fender trimming to fit 33s. I have all that on a WJ except for the shocks and at least Fox 2.0s would be my next upgrade. The pressed in rubber bushings on the front axle upper links have been a maintenance issue as they press themselves out...

Coffee and Crawlers this Saturday, May 4, 2024

I got busy in the garage so didn't end up going. The wife made plans for us to go bicycling in Ventura for Mother's day this weekend so I detoured our path a bit and plan to swing by since my day is shot anyways.

    Roger The Raptor

A few people have done that over the years and they seem to work out fine. Watch the rust buildup on the DOM though. I picked up some Belltech 4924 foam bumpstops that have a softer hit and more gradual ramp up than hard poly similar to OEM bumps of the last 25 years but have a stud mount for...

What should I do with my 95 grand Cherokee

If you want to go chop whoops and hit senders than a truck with floppy beams is the way to go. If you want to explore the hills and chase waterfalls then not much beats what you have, it'll just never be a smooth fast ride. I have a WJ with long arms and 33s and while it goes everywhere the pace...

    Sequoia Family Crawler

This is probably long overdue but it is time to take the family along on off road adventures. I pondered over building another fast truck out of a crew cab fullsize but couldn't fall in love with the idea. To do it right takes a lot of money in shocks and parts along with a lot of build time...

Where’s all the moto dudes at?

Make sure you plan on using big wheels. The 19/16 is way better in sand and stability

Where’s all the moto dudes at?

This TTR125 is for sale, has at least new forks on it, maybe a rear shock https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/7318181861610483/?ref=saved&referral_code=null

Where’s all the moto dudes at?

With three boys I have been through so many little bikes it's ridiculous. PW50, CRF50, KTM50, PW80, KX65, KX85, KX100, TTR125, CRF150R, TTR230 and a YZ125. Four stroke trail bikes like TTR and CRF-X are great for timid kids who ride trails and don't want to jump but are heavy. The CRF150R is...

Notching tubing when fabricating - who/what/where/how/pics - all of that

I've used the JD2 as well as the Rogue Versa notcher but never fell in love with a hand drill operated notcher. I started with a harbor freight drill press mounted one and love the power of the motor and the safety of securely holding both the hole saw and the tube. My problem is the Harbor...

Unfortunately the time has come to move this project to the side, literally. New family wheeler has cut in line via the wife's insistence. Hopefully I'll get back on it after summer.

    Garage Tools

I built an axle cart today using scissor jacks to adjust height during mockup phase. I do want to incorporate something to hold the pinion at a set angle.

Buying a lot, building a house, what do I need to know?!

I built my house a few years back in Los Angeles County and would 100% do it again. I had a great architect that new the county rules so nothing was a surprise. County fees were pricey but all laid out upfront so no surprise. The fire dept approval took just over one year which was annoying. I...

The Lonely Pinos 250 Prelander run. Bring the kids

Thanks for setting this up and leading the whole way Lance. My son had a blast and has already called shotgun for the next one. I wish I didn't have to baby a 3 legged Jeep around the whole time but was still able to enjoy the route. Having the boys run off as a pack sure was handy for setting...

    Tire balancing beads

Just to keep a record, I put 15 ounces of airsoft BBs in a 40 on aluminum beadlocks. Took nearly 3000 6mm BBs and the TPMS valve weighed 2 ounces. Will report back if I ever drive on them.

The Lonely Pinos 250 Prelander run. Bring the kids

3 nights of no cell service left limited time to update the socials. Spoiler alert, 10 rigs saw excellent scenery, the kids all had a blast together and on the trail, it got cold but everyone had a good time
